YMCAUST celebrated Independence Day, VC Prof. Dinesh Kumar hoisted the Tri-colour
The YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad celebrated 71st Independence Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety. The Vice Chancellor of University, Prof. Dinesh Kumar hoisted the Tri-colour at the University premises.
He also took salute of the march past presented by the Security Staff of the University and addressed the gathering. To keep alive the flame of patriotism, a bouquet of cultural program was presented by students in the form of speeches, patriotic dance and poems. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by singing of the National Anthem.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Kumar highlighted the importance of the day. He recalled the contributions of the national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Lala Lajpat Rai in freedom struggle. He said that each one of us needs to participate for attainment of the goals laid down by the constitution. He urged the students to follow the path shown by great leaders.
Congratulating the faculty members and students of the University on the Independence Day, the Vice-Chancellor also informed about the various infrastructural development works of the University and reiterated his commitment of providing the better facilities to the students to support their academic performance.
On the 75th anniversary of the Quit India movement, Vice-Chancellor urged the students to observe this Independence Day as ‘Sankalp Parva’ and asked them to take a pledge to free the country of problems like communalism, casteism and corruption and create a ‘new India’ by 2022. After which, he recited the pledge with the students and staff of the University.
The ceremony was well attended by all Deans, Head of the Departments and Sections, officers of the University, faculty members, staff and students.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Dean Student Welfare Dr. Naresh Chauhan and coordinated by Dr. Pradeep Dimri and Dr. Sonia Bansal. The function culminated with singing of national song ‘Vande Matarm’ presented by the students and distribution of sweets among all the students and staff members.
