3rd National Conference on Trends and Advances in Mechanical Engineering was successfully conducted on 16-17 March, 2017.

The two-day National Conference on “Trends and Advances in Mechanical Engineering” under Haryana’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations, being organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering Department of YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad was attended by more than 100 participants from different states.

The conference concluded with the valedictory function presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar. Dr. S.P. Singh, Professor at IIT, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the function and Dr. Naveen Kumar Garg, Senior Scientist, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi was the Guest of the Honour. Deans, Dr. Sandeep Grover, Dr. C.K Nagpal were also present on the occasion. Dr. Rajeev Saha and Dr. Nikhil Dev coordinated the valedictory session.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar emphasised on the need for innovation and research in the area of Mechanical Engineering and spoke about the important role of mechanical engineers in modern manufacturing technologies and promotion of ‘Make In India’. He urged the participants to apply their innovative ideas and research to make India self sufficient and to the benefit of the common man. He also stressed the importance of such conferences and with utmost gratitude to the participant for making the Conference a success.

During valedictory session, Dr. S.P. Singh explained the topic Dynamic Mechanical Characterization of Iron and Steel using Multi-scale Modeling Simulation particularly on Nano-Materials and Dr. Naveen Kumar Garg explained the topic ‘Calibration and Measurement Capabilities’.

During this two-day Conference, a total seven keynote sessions were organized in which five speakers were from industry and two were from academic institutions. Out of the 75 research papers, 68 delegates presented during eight technical sessions on four broad themes.

The Vice-Chancellor and other officials of the University felicitated the dignitaries by presenting mementos.

Dr. Rajeev Saha conducted the proceedings of the function and Dr. Nikhil Dev presented the formal vote of thanks.
